James Gilpin went on to deliver the pizzas just like any other day not expecting such turn of events. When asked what he was going to do with the money, he said that he was planning to get his car fixed and buy extravagant gifts for his two kids for Christmas. A student at the university named Jim Lo shared, “We can do little things together which can add up to a big thing that will encourage other people to do something similar.”
When James arrived on the campus, he was directly taken to the stage and it is at this point that he admits he knew something was up. The speaker then proceeded to announce how he was being given a $1,268 tip along with gift cards and various notes written by the students of that university. Gilpin admitted towards the end that the notes written by various students brought tears to his eyes and will stick with him for a lifetime. This gesture by the students and administrative staff at the university was noted by many local newspapers and it gained the spotlight in various national tabloids as well.
